Before I start on what I did yesterday, I just want to say a few things:
- Happy birthday Sona *hugs*
- My work sucks, and my co-worker sucks. I’ve been at this job three weeks, only two of which where learning how to do this one thing, and my co-worker has said, now I’m here, he’s quitting. He leaves on Thursday. I hate this and am very scared
- EBuyer.com customer support fucking sucks. I want my goddamnfucking money!
Now that over, I can tell y’all what a cool day I had yesterday
So, I wanted to get out and go some place, you recall. So yesterday Andy and I went to Brockenhurst. And we got ourselves lost
This map, courtesy of MultiMap, should help you understand where we went. The rout we followed is marked out on bright blue dots for your dotty pleasure.
After leaving the train station, Andy said he would try to take me to the pond near where his aunt use to live. We struck out east and south down some quite lane to avoid walking along the main road. This lane, according to the map, runs around the edge of Brockenhurst Park, and we saw loads of rabbits. It was very quite and idyllic. Coming to the end of this lane, we crossed the main road to another lane, almost getting ourselves run over [Thanks Andy
] Along this lane, not quite as quiet as the first, we saw loads of horses, mainly show horses, not Forest Ponies. On coming to the end of this lane, we saw a sign saying we were a mile out from the village, so we decided to head back, going in the direction of the sign. This lead us along a lane in the forest proper, however it only lead us back to the main road, which we didn’t want to walk along, so we headed south-west onto the moors.
Almost as soon as we stepped onto a track bordered by high gorse, all road noise was blocked out, and only the sound of the wind could be heard. As we wandered we saw, about 2 miles away, or so, a tower, and decided it was most likely a mobile phone mast. I have subsequently found out that it’s actually a folly, which is used occasionally as a ‘phone mast. Then we wandered onto a bit of ground that had been burnt for regeneration, and saw our first Pony of the day. She was quite a mystical looking thing – all white in amongst the blackened gorse
After we emerged from the heath we followed another road down, over a bridge [where we were savaged by brambles], down the road a bit more and into civilisation. We stopped opposite a garage on a green bit to have lunch, and were stared at by the second Pony of the day.
After lunch we headed into Brockenhurst village, and I was intending to have a cup of tea, but I had no cash, and all the tea shops seemed to be full. It’s a sweet wee place, but not much of interest shop-wise. They all seemed to be food places, or estate agents. We had fun watching some people on bikes go through the ford though
So then we wandered back down to find the station, but after finding it, the time was only 1300h ish, so we wandered back down a different road to the one we came up, and followed it down past the collage and a green, then wandered down some more lanes past cottages and to another ford that was terribly pretty, with sun dappling on the water
So after this brief repose we carried on, past a house called ‘Aston Villa’, and to another stretch of moor.
I have discovered something very interesting about my beloved – he has a fondness for horses. I don’t know why, but I never would have thought it of him, but it’s kinda cute
Anyway we wandered about, trying to talk to horses, when I decided it would be nice to site down for a bit. So I found a quite, secluded and sheltered spot, and we spread out coats out and sat and kissed and cuddled and talked and laughed and… disturbed the wildlife
It was restful, and peaceful, and just… nice to sit in the sun. I think I must be cold blooded – I love snoozing in the sun
But yeah, it was very nice
Though after a while the sun went behind some very large clouds and I started getting chilly so we left, saying next time, not only would we take a bigger bag, but a rug as well [I got a damp arse
]
We then retraced out steps back to civilisation, and I did want to go into one of the tea shops for a last cup of tea, but Andy didn’t want to, so we headed back to the train station. Fortunately we didn’t have to wait too long for a train back.
So that was our day, and a very good day it was too
