This is a review of a series that had been premiering on the Sci-Fi channel for a while now. What series is this? Why, John Doe of course.

Basically, its about this guy who wakes up on Horseshoe Island of the coast of Seattle, completely naked [which gives a nice view of Dominic Purcell's butt] with total amnesia. He makes it to the main land, and goes to a local police office to register himself missing. Throughout the course of the first episode, we discover that not only does he not have any knowledge of himself, but he knows absolutely everything there is know about everything else. We also discover he has a strange brand on his chest and is colour blind.

As the episodes continue, John Doe [as he has names himself] becomes friendly with a bar tender named Digger [William Forsythe] and a girl named Karen Kawalski [Sprague Grayden], through Diggers bar. John plays the stock market and as a consequence becomes rich, but seeking comfort he plays piano in the bar. Later Karen is fired, but becomes John’s ‘secretary’, although she’s rather dippy at it and is better suited to being an artist.
John also becomes good friends with Detective Frank Hayes [John Marshall Jones] and Lieutenant Jamie Avery [ Jayne Brook], whom he helps out with a seemingly unsolvable murder mystery, and continues to aide.

Most of the episodes are taken up with this kind of action, with John constantly searching for his past. Not to give anything crucial away, but in most of the episodes we [the viewer] are given glimpses of what may have happened to John before his amnesia trip, and its all very exciting stuff.

I can’t really do much of it justice, but I love to watch the puzzles unfolding, and the dry satirical humour used. I love the acting, and I find it to be realistic. I love Grayden’s performance of Karen, and well, I just love the whole damn thing. I give it 5 horseshoes. Go and watch it. Now.
