I’m so happy
I don’t think I’ve blogged about Mildred much or at all, so let me explain: Mildred is a carnivorous plant, a Sarracenia to be exact, which is a type of pitcher plant. My mum bought her from Wyvale garden center at Ferndown about two weeks before Andy, Dan Monkey and I moved in together. She was £1 I think, and she looks something like this.
About 6 months ago she was getting very prolific, so I decided she needed a bigger pot. Only, after a while, she didn’t seem to like her new pot and her pitchers started dying, so on the advice of a friend I started top watering her, rather than bottom watering her, but her soil went all moldy and her pitchers started dying off in droves. I finally got around to looking at her just now, because I was afraid that she was completely dead. But she isn’t!
After taking all the dead pitches away and scarping away the moldy soil, I found that she’s sprouting again, but some of her roots aren’t are healthy as maybe they should be. So, in a couple of Saturday’s time I think I’m going to take her to my parent’s and find her a smaller pot and sort her out. Hopefully that will make her prolific and healthy again

Rainwater only for your pitcher plant. They hate the lime in our hard water.

Thanks for the advice
Unfortunatly I don’t really have access to a way of collecting rain water, so I filter the tap water instead.
