Ramblings of a Disorientated Mind

The ramblings, and occasional sanities, of a 20-something geekess from the UK

Birthday

So, it was my birthday Monday, so I guess I’d better engage you all with a description of what happened in the days surrounding it.

Sat, Andy and I went to my parent’s to pick up camping gear for Cropready, and I found out that Owen wasn’t doing the Jazz gig at the Pavilion any more so I couldn’t be sneaked into that, but he suggested a similar thing that was happening in Christchurch. In the end though I decided not to go and instead Andy and I went for a meal at the Sloop then watched Die Hard 1, while Dan pissed off the whole street by turning his music up so loud the floors shook. We also went to the beach with Kat for a couple of hours.

Sun, was Barry’s b/day so we went and saw Transformers at the cinema with the Sullivans [sans parents], Luke, Greg and Ian [It was okay – the SFX where cool, but some of the tech stuff was a bit naff. I shall never look at 'you loose' the same way again tho]. Afterwards we headed to Calendars and had some drinks and a shareable starter while we waited for Andy to turn up. The meal was a little bit of a disaster because some things were cold, other things didn’t turn up etc, but we had fun anyway. After that we went back to the Sullivan’s and had coffee and chatted until 2200 when Greg kindly took us home.

Monday! When I woke up Andy said happy birthday to me :) I also got a text from Charlie that sang at me… Most of the morning was spent doing laundry :( but Ian and Greg came over and gave me stuff and we chatted. After they left I went into Poole to spend some of my birthday cash. I got two black and one red pens, the Official Firefly Companion, a pair of walking socks, a bottle of Margarita and had a cup of tea and a muffin in The Lord Wimb. I then spend about an hour in ASDA trying on bras and being disappointed by their lack of firm-hold-y-ness. In the middle of all this, I had a job interview at Robert Dyas which went okay I guess. I’ll hear back from them on Friday [hopefully there will be signal at Cropready...].
I got home just about the same time as Andy and we had slightly a disappointing fish ready-meal thing. I was just when my Mum showed up with some more stuff. After she’d gone I settled back with Andy and my bottle of margarita and we watched Die Hard 2: Die Harder.

I think this birthday was all-round disappointing for me. I admit I wasn’t the most organized person in the world about it, and it did take place on Monday, but it’s the fact that I always try hard to make other people’s birthdays fun and cool, either taking them out someplace or throwing a party for them, and no one really did the same for me. Yes Kat cooked for me on Tuesday and we sat around and drank wine and bitched about Big Brother, and it was nice, but it wasn’t the same as a party. Is it that unreasonable to expect my friends to do something nice for me, as a group, on my birthday?
